OUR EIGHTH ANNUAL REUNION WAS IN SEPTEMBER OF 2008.  AS YOU CAN SEE WE WERE GRACED WITH A BEAUTIFUL RAINBOW DURING OUR MEMORIAL.  AT NO OTHER TIME WAS THE RAINBOW VISIBLE NOR CAPTURED IN ANY OTHER PICTURES.

WE CELEBRATE OUR VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE WORKED VERY HARD CARING FOR ALL THE MANY WONDERFUL GREYHOUND THEY HAVE TOUCHED AND OUR MANY ADOPTERS WHO HAVE MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO PLACE OUR X-RACERS WITH LOVING FAMILIES TO SHARE THEIR LIVES WITH.

WE ARE ALL SO BLESSED TO HAVE SUCH A WONDERFUL GREYHOUND FAMILY. TO SEE SOME PHOTOS OF OUR PAST GATHERINGS TAKEN BY OUR FRIENDS, GO TO THE PHOTO GALLERY.

"The character of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

Greyhound Rescue Foundation of Tennessee partners with the Corrections Corporation of America to bring inmates, Greyhounds and Trainers together.

GRFT and the Corrections Corporation of America are working in cooperation with one another to facilitate a foster care/inmate handler program with retired racing Greyhounds at the Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility.

This is a win-win situation for the Greyhounds coming into retirement and the inmates.  As one inmate shared with GRFT representatives, "This is the reason to get up, the reason to care and the one "person" that cares for me.

The Program not only teaches basic obedience to the Greyhounds but also enables the inmates to focus on and learn from the love of a Greyhound.

GRFT with the help of Jim and Anne-Marie, our Nashville Representatives, provides the Greyhounds, a trainer, veterinary care, food, crates, bedding, bowls, toys, treats, heartworm preventative, collars, leads and any other incidentals.

This program is a large expense to GRFT but thanks to the experience and expertise of Anne-Marie with fundraising, Jim's willingness to make sure the Greyhounds have everything needed and to Kat for the professional training she brings to the program, we are able to continue helping to bring hope for a brighter future.

Together We DO Make A Difference.      Adoption is the Option.

Greyhound Rescue Foundation of Tennessee, volunteers Brenda and Rhonda pick up newly retired racing Greyhounds at the Birmingham Race Track to be placed in Foster care.  These five young x-racers are among the approximate 800 Greyhounds that have gone through GRFT Foster homes and into the loving permanent homes.

Newly retired Greyhounds are placed in GRFT foster homes to be evaluated, profiled,  taught things like steps, mirrors, house manners and how to live with a family.

GRFT adheres to a 100% spay/neuter policy before adoption.
