The fundraising T-Shirts, custom designed in the
Rally to Rescue™ signature shade of purple, feature a classic
quotation from Mahatma Gandhi on the front:
"The character of a
nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
Greyhound Rescue Foundation of Tennessee partners
with the Corrections Corporation of America to bring inmates,
Greyhounds and Trainers together.
GRFT and the Corrections Corporation of America
are working in cooperation with one another to facilitate a foster
care/inmate handler program with retired racing Greyhounds at the
Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility.
This is a win-win situation for the Greyhounds
coming into retirement and the inmates. As one inmate shared
with GRFT representatives, "This is the reason to get up, the reason
to care and the one "person" that cares for me.
The Program not only teaches basic obedience to
the Greyhounds but also enables the inmates to focus on and learn
from the love of a Greyhound.
GRFT with the help of Jim and Anne-Marie, our
Nashville Representatives, provides the Greyhounds, a trainer,
veterinary care, food, crates, bedding, bowls, toys, treats,
heartworm preventative, collars, leads and any other incidentals.
This program is a large expense to GRFT but
thanks to the experience and expertise of Anne-Marie with
fundraising, Jim's willingness to make sure the Greyhounds have
everything needed and to Kat for the professional training she
brings to the program, we are able to continue helping to bring hope
for a brighter future. |

into the loving permanent homes as of 2010.
Newly retired
Greyhounds are placed in GRFT foster homes to be evaluated,
profiled, taught things like steps, mirrors, house manners and how
to live with a family.

RACE FOR THE CURE
KINGSPORT PARADE
2012
GRFT participates in many events.
This parade was held in Kingsport and as you can see our theme was
"RACE FOR THE CURE"
Thanks goes out to all our
volunteers that helped make this our float and event a huge success.
A huge thanks to Ronnie Peters for his amazing artwork and to Roger
Wright for constructing our displays and supplying the float along
with the truck.
As we passed the thousands of
people watching the parade we received so many thanks from people
with tears, hugs and thumbs up.
It sure feels good to bring a
little joy and happiness to many people as we find ways to show we
care and honor those fighting this devastating disease.
It can't happen without our
amazing volunteers that pull together.
